The Not-So-Shocking Turn of Events

posted by Jordan on 2008/4/23 (Comics)

I wonder how screwed up the world would be if the sun suddenly rose in the North one morning. People would be horrified to realize that sundials across the globe would be rendered useless! It would be mass hysteria!

Rather than a weekly utpade, why not use the Praxis graphs; instead of having the x-axis as 24 hours, have it for the winter season, say Oct 1 to May 1 (we don't usually have snow outside of those months). You could plot last year's data as yesterday's' data, as well as add a third line for the 30 year average (might just be steps of monthly long term averages?). Then we could see this winter grow above (or below) the line and know exactly where we stand every 15 minutes! Oh the excitement.

No, at the north pole, the sun only ever rises from the south. No mater which way you face, at the north pole, it is south. And MC is right.

Mass hysteria? It'd be ****ing hysterical!

would that hold true for the south pole to I wonder?

Actually, you could say the sun rises from the north if you view the sunrise from near the northern polar region in summertime, as it rises from more north than east.
