We All Are

posted by Jordan on 2009/2/24 (Comics)

We now return to your regularly scheduled webcomic. So this probably wasn't as triumphant a return as a lot of you were expecting, but don't worry, the resolution is coming soon.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go play some more Order of Ecclesia while restraining the urge to snap my DS in half.

tobimaro that be correct, so many say it was Bob Dylan. Lana does not have IT anymore, no wonder Kaal has lost interest in her.

kres, that would be Stealer's Wheel "Stuck in the Middle With You" (yes, that was my music). And I agree that this is getting old. But if he has been dodging fireballs, isn't throwing another spell with a Reflex save another waste of time?

Stormrage, printed first in Complete Divine and later in Spell Compendium, was used by Eldhin during the epic fight between him and Aldran. Basically using the Giants "OMGWTFBBQ! Not a core spell!!" I honestly don't expect it to be a running gag, so DBF is my first (and best) guess.(Greater) Glyph of Warding takes way too long to cast, You can't open/close a berry, so that rules out Fire Trap. Aside from that, nothing comes to mind (did you know only 3 spells in Core begin with the letter "N"?).

The Ivory Veil kinda reminds me of Warhammer 40,000' Inquisition. Ordos for pretty much every aspect of their shadow war (Ordos, if you will), mega-diversity in memberships, and even political intrigue withing their ranks. It would not surprise me to see two rivals (e.g., Eldhin and Zanis) in the furture.

@lol: Halle Berry bombs would certainly be a lot hotter than whatever a druid could conjure up.

Stormrage... I think that is one you are looking for...

But I somohow doubt that quentas's division would worry about destroyed village... after all it does sem that Veil is not paladin organisation... But some mix with strong determination... to whatever thez consider good for world...

Nice comic! Glad to see you back on your feet.

I too have been wondering where Laris had gone to.

I love the impending sense of destruction that seems to radiate from Aldran. We already know that the fireseeds are divine magic, and I think we can rule out the xrunes. It could be pulled off, however awkwardly, and I don't think zarah would go for that, not when varsuvvius can pull it off so well.

I actually like archetype's theory of a delayed blast fireball, but I have a feeling it may not even be a dnd spell. I'm pretty sure we have seen at least one example of a spell that is not from dnd... (can't remember where) Tongue

@Kres
That line reminded me of How Bizzare by..Oh...That...Dude..I can't remember the name. Worried

Also, so THATS where Laris disappeared off to.
Archetype- - 2009/2/24
If I may offer an alternate theory on what the frag Aldran cast on that berry... I think it's a Delayed Blast Fireball put on/in the berry to be hurled at the pansy druid, whatever the frag his name is. What's the ruling on Reflex saves against an AoE spell nailing you right in the chest like that, eh? Tongue
kres - 2009/2/24
oooh a smack to ol' Laris's freedom of neutrality. Bards can run the whole spectrum of the neutral side while poor little Druids have to be stuck in the middle. Hey that reminds me of a song... Clowns to the left of me Jokers to the Right. Without use of Google get the name of the band!
Blakjak - 2009/2/24
Hehe, this should be good. Aweosme comic, as always.
Amaretto - 2009/2/24
Nice comic. I especially liked the druid's reason for not killing Laris: "I hae to remain neutral." Tongue

In most campaigns, the players just pick their alignment to fit the requirements for the class. This willingness to kill Laris and yet unability to due to alignment restrictions for druids reminded me of my own DnD group. Very happy

@Sirek: I read that as -Halle Berry Bomb-
Sirek - 2009/2/24
Check it out:

-Holly Berry Bombs-

You turn as many as eight holly berries into special bombs. The holly berries are usually placed by hand, since they are too light to make effective thrown weapons (they can be tossed only 5 feet). If you are within 200 feet and speak a word of command, each berry instantly bursts into flame, causing 1d8 points of fire damage 1 point per caster level to every creature in a 5-foot radius burst and igniting any combustible materials within 5 feet. A creature in the area that makes a successful Reflex saving throw takes only half damage.
tgecko - 2009/2/24
er...that is, only one is unnecessary... The second one is needed unless you restructure the sentence. Tongue
tgecko - 2009/2/24
In panel 6, you use the word 'now' to end a sentence twice in a row. Neither one is really necessary, imo.
Ganurath - 2009/2/24
Level: Drd 6, Fire 6, Sun 6

I think we can rule out Fire Seeds. I'm thinking Explosive Runes and a leading comment that the druid should make them explosive.
Woodrot - 2009/2/24
Hey, I remember this spell! Can't remember what it's called, but it never seemed to be that destructive. Then again, Aldran's probably strong enough to make anything into an explosive if he wants to--and we all know he does!
Aean - 2009/2/24
Wait...how did Laris get into the hut from out if the forest? Did the druid fight/beat him there and then let him crawl back to town? Did the druid follow Lara, beating up Laris on his way?

Also: You all saw it coming. Aldran IS going to blow up/burn down the village.
Amber - 2009/2/24
I think I remember a spell in "Dragon Magic" that can be used to enchant food. I don't remember the effect, though...
Lyinginbedmon - 2009/2/24
The phrase "cherry bomb" comes to mind here
Niley - 2009/2/24
Hm. Fire Berries. So Aldran IS going to blow up the whole village?
Paeris Kiran - 2009/2/24
thas a joke isn´t it? That druid/sorcerrer ar whatever he is would have to have inteligence 0 to eat or do something like that... Or to take anything from Aldraan.

doesn´t Aldraan actualy want to confront Ivory Veil? Well I would love to see Zurie/Keiriss/Lana battle... best with lot of mud XD
Dallas-dakota - 2009/2/24
Nice. Keep on going Zarah.
But please don't make the comic run on too long.
