By Process of Elimination

posted by Chris on 2014/3/25 (Comics)

Good evening, it's Dyluthus here and we have a special Tuesday night edition of anti-HEROES where things in the castle just continue to get out of control for poor Turrick and company.

Enjoy Happy

Kodathekobold - 2014/4/5
So will it ever be revealed which user the cameo actually was? I can think of only one Kobold with a green beetle on the giantitp forums but maybe I'm missing another one? Just curious Happy
Great comic as per usual Happy

This entire sidebit with the werewolf thing came out of nowhere, seems to have nothing to do with anything, and is completely disjointed. There is nothing wrong with runnng a few story lines in parallel IF you can handle it, but it is becoming increasingly hard to follow this sideline.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has no idea what the heck is going on in this new strip. Usually I can figure it out with some backtracking to previous strips, but I'm lost here.

If the deaths are a montage of the next few days, it didn't really come across well.

If it's 3 kills right then, you can't really tell why or who's doing what. And the last 3 panels seem out of place with the slaughter.
wolfgang - 2014/3/28
it is a skip of a few game days :
the blond got killed (werewolf) then orange shirt was executed, the drow was killed.

I am wondering if the killing are special effect, or not (is it still a tourist attraction?)
Eriadora - 2014/3/28
I am confused. Who killed whom? I didn't get a clear idea of what just happened except somehow three characters ended up dead?
Commenting Panda - 2014/3/27
Truthfully, it seems to be the point of these kinds of games. Once the killing starts, it just sort of devolves into chaos with no one knowing what the hell is going on.

I'm just gonna cut straight to the point here.

I love this comic immensely. I've always enjoyed the OOTS art style and it's refreshing to see it used on such a different array of characters, and taken into realms where it hasn't often been taken (for example, Aldran, Keriss, and the entirety of the Ivory Veil, although Quentas especially). The story is very different from OOTS but still feels like it could fit within the same world, which makes the shared art style seem even more shared. And to Anon I must say that you're simply a douchebag. I mean, come on dude. This story has been slaved over for hours on end, I'm sure. They have control over it.

However, I do have a bit of an issue with the story myself, although really just this one strip. My issue is that I have literally no idea what's going on it. So, the first couple panels are okay, but then she says "Now begins the real fun!" and everyone is in a state of mass hysteria and some doors got slammed and three people are dead and it's not in any way clear who or what killed them or why. Also, it took me a good long time to realize that the dwarf or whatever he was and the kobold were one and the same, as there was no indication that he had transformed, simply that there was suddenly now a kobold. Admittedly it is partially my own fault for not taking into account the little buggy guy or the outfit, but still. Everything seems to be happening sporadically and for no purpose or reasoning. Sorry if it sounds at all rude or insulting, but that's just how I'm seeing it and it's confusing me.

All in all though, Dyluth, Leakingpen, you guys are awesome. Keep up the good work on one of my favorite comics on the interwebs. Happy

Brown Shirt and pale skin with trench coat (who is one of the Giantitp cameos.) Drakilian, haters going to hate. Personally, as a creator, I have always found that ratios exist. No matter what you make, some people will love it and tell you so, and some people will hate it and tell you so. If a couple people say its awesome, and everyone else tells you its crap... its probably not that good. vice versa, a couple of loud screaming voices saying its crap are just feces flinging monkeys. There HAVE been pacing issues, I admit it fully, caused by outside forces, and by trying to make ya'll happy when everyone has agreed that there were issues. It's all a matter of balance. Don't let it get to you Drakilian, some people only find pleasure is pooping on others. Not my kink, but I ain't going to judge.
Gicko - 2014/3/26
i think brown-shirt guy from the 5th pannel is also still around, as we haven't seen him die yet.
Drakilian - 2014/3/26
@ Wolfgang I think it's only the kobold, the oracle and the werewolf (I've always played it as mafia, or assassin in the palace, didn't know there was a version called werewolf, haha. Seems harder than usual).

Oh, and Anon; seriously, what the hell? This is a good comic and both authors have been doing a great job of replacing the old one - I swear, i've never seen a more pedantic and delusional set of people than those who bitch about webcomics (Like the people who call "Goblins" torture porn and insult the author because they're too squeamish, or the the people who bash "will save world for gold" because they think Ardon's a dick - I swear, it's as if someone throws a ball at you and you reach up to catch it after it's already hit your shoulder - you're completely missing the point of the what you're complaining about, as well as ruining the experience for everyone who actually LIKES the comic. There's nothing that will ruin the enjoyment I get from reading this comic more than some dick in the comments section saying "HEY, BRING BACK THE OLD AUTHOR! YOU GUYS SUCK BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT HIM! BOOOOO!" - especially when not a word of it is true. I couldn't tell the difference between Dyluth and Leakingpen's strips and those of the original author - I read through the entire comic before realizing there was a comments section and an author's note. Everyone who complains about the quality deteriorating is just hating on a change that isn't really a change - it's just a perceived slight, and it's a ridiculous one at that. So enjoy the goddamn comic and stop worrying yourself, haha. We're lucky that Dyluth and Leakingpen even volunteered to do this in the first place - luckier still that they're doing such a great job.)
Gicko - 2014/3/26
Anon. shut up. nobody is forcing you to read the comic, quite frankly i enjoy the werewolf game, so everything you just said is automatically moot. if you hate it so much, leave. nobody will stop you.
Anon - 2014/3/26
YOU SUCK AT COMICS. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE TRYING TO DO OR SAY. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE STORY. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS.
Mad Lemmey - 2014/3/26
Great strip, how's he going to get out of this!?!
wolfgang - 2014/3/26
how many "player" are left?
if there was three nights, could we suppose that turrick knows now what most of the survivor are?
Leakingpen - 2014/3/26
A werewolf kill, a lynching, a werewolf kill. And now we are setting up for another lynching. One of the things about a werewolf game is that they tend to escalate after taking FOREVER to start. heh. also, trying to compress the story a bit.
Ruud - 2014/3/26
Can someone explain this strip to me? Why are suddenly three participants get killed, without a shocked reaction by the survivors? This whole strip is getting less and less understandable... pity.
Leakingpen - 2014/3/26
And thus we reveal that one of our cameo's of the wonderful people over at GIANTITP.COM forums has been ongoing for a while! You just didn't know it.
